A new "new media" idea I can think of is a virtual reality classroom. I know online classes (via Udemy, Khan Academy, etc.) are very popular but it lacks a certain "realness" to it. I think a creative idea would be an online VR class where you put on the headset and you are in a classroom. You can interact with other people who are enrolled in the course who also have the headset on. Through this VR classroom, one may be able to learn new concepts and gain knowledge while experiencing different cultures and classroom environments all in the comfort of your home.
