Blog vs. Wiki

Blogs are useful in that they are a means for sharing information in many different ways. Blogs have a particular format and structure that must be followed, as opposed to Wikis, which are more free-flowing and collaborative. Blogs also offer the option to subscribe so that the user may be updated when new information is available. A Wiki is a website that offers text-based content that is a bit different from a traditional Blog. Wikis are also great sharing information, but the highlight that sets Wikis apart is the collaborative nature. Wikis allow users to post new content, edit content, and collaborate with other users on the Wiki.

Convergence in a theory that technologies that were initially unrelated upon creation become more and more related and intertwined as they develop. An example I can think of is a smartphone. A couple of years ago, when telephones, televisions, and computers were first created, no one could fathom that a piece of technology would be created that embodies so many different types of technologies.

Bloggers have many outlets to talk and collaborate with each other. Facebook groups and Pinterest are great ways for bloggers to come together and collaborate ideas on a specific niche. Such outlets are great for bloggers to gain new ideas while also putting themselves out in public to self-promote.

Wikis are great for collaborating through text. I think it would be a cool idea for Wikis to adopt a video sharing platform. I've seen new trends revolve around sharing quick snippets of life through video, so it might be a cool idea for Wiki users to collaborate through video as well.
